Osaka Koi no Uta (demon mix) / Ai no Bakayarou (unfinished mix)
モーニング娘。 - 大阪恋の歌 (demon mix) / 後藤真希 - 愛のバカやろう (unfinished mix)
remixed by WindsorBALLET - Rock
.:. Osaka Koi no Uta (demon mix)
.:. Ai no Bakayarou (unfinished mix)
4.1MB / 4m20s / 128kbps
4.4MB / 4m43s / 128kbps
.:. Full sized jacket image 300dpi JPEG / 72dpi preview
These 2 "remixes" were actually supposed to be covers. By some shitty luck WindorBallet lost his master recording with a HDD failure, and only left with these 2 demo mp3s, which were intended to be just a guide for the vocalist. Well not all is lost, at least there is something :) So Windsor decided to release these as remixes instead.
Osaka Koi no Uta has quite a classic metal rock reference to it, sounds somewaht oldies-ish but still has the edge of a mordern rock, probably because of the speeded up pace. The chrous in particular is well adjusted to the mood of the vocals. I like it that none of the parts, not even the solo is dargging too long, just one or two bars and we are off to something else.
Ai no Baka came off really natural, as if the rock treatment was meant to be the actual arrangement... the guitar melo-A seems to pace up the vocal in a positive way, like, connecting one line to the next. Very nice drum work and not overwhelming bass. A fair rock cover.
The masterings are indeed pretty crappy, because like said, these are only demo tapes...

MERRY X'MAS FOR YOU
松浦亜弥 cover - MERRY X'MAS FOR YOU
WindsorBALLET (with Airiko) - Ballad cover
.:. MERRY X'MAS FOR YOU
3.7MB / 3m42s / 128kbps
.:. Full sized jacket image 300dpi JPEG / 72dpi preview
Originally posted last year, 2003 Christmas, as part of a karaoke project going on among mm-bbs members, Airiko had teamed up with WindsorBALLET again for all our goodness~ This is a b-side from the Ayaya single, 100kai no KISS.
Not attempting to be too far off from the ayaya original version, a lot of subtle changes were made but none of them alter the already calming, cherishing atmosphere. A very light approach from Airiko's signature indolent vocals, arh, I somewhat wish the recording was done a bit more polished, but we can't complain :/
Hope you all enjoy the Christmas present and if you want more, check out the mm-bbs k-bar section, they did a whole bunch other Christmas covers too.

First Kiss (Don't Fear the Remix)
あぁ! - FIRST KISS
remixed by WindsorBALLET - Metal
.:. First Kiss (Don't Fear the Remix)
5.6MB / 3m54s / 192kbps
.:. Full sized jacket image (300dpi)
This is WindsorBALLET's first try on an actual mix with use of H!P original vocals, he has a perfect description of his own on the board thread so I will just paste it here :)
"A little 3 day project. I originally wanted to do a sort of porn-groove version of this, but I'm too white, so I did what I do best -- rock out with my cock out. I actually let my cock hang out of my pants for the entire recording session! Anyway, for those of you too young to know (read NOT GEOF) the remix title refers to "Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult, which this mix sort of reminds me of. No cover art because I should be in bed right now. Enjoy!"
Since Windsor left his mix "faceless", therefore I (Chancha) took the chance to pimp a cover art for it this time. I kinda ripped the idea straight off the original BOC cover, then did some pshop brushing on an Aa pic. The eyes are missing cuz of a slight reference to a Japanese folklore youkai (ghost) のっぺらぼう (Nopperabou). Notice the "Aa!" pattern going on in the border too? (which is the actual logo of on their CD) Hope you guys like this (AND the mental image of Windsor's cock slapping between his thighs...).

Summer Night Town
モーニング娘。 cover - サマーナイトタウン
WindsorBALLET with jko - Rock cover
.:. Summer Night Town
.:. Summer Night Town (Guitar Wank Mix)
3.9MB / 3m54s / 128kbps (both)
.:. Full sized jacket image
Another cover attempt WindsorBALLET decided to play with - Summer Night Town. Vocalist jko's harmonic approach fits nicely into the rather "moody rock deal in this song". Oldschool MM songs are always the winners, this cover is also one of those. Windsor is quoted: "track two is essentially the same as track one except for the last chorus, which is replaced with me getting my guitar's rocks off"; indeed it is one hell of a guitar jack off :)

100kai no KISS
松浦亜弥 cover - 100回のKISS
WindsorBALLET (featuring Airiko) - Ballad cover
.:. 100kai no KISS
4.5MB / 4m38s / 128kbps
.:. Full sized jacket image
WindsorBALLET (JPope) + airiko = absolutely mindblowing. Airiko's voice is so gorgeous I think she can kick Ayaya's ass... (subjective opinion ok) This probably qualifies as a cover song than a remix, but WindsorBALLET's effort into the guitar itself (especially the solos) is already worth calling it one. You won't miss Ayaya's version after this, trust me.
(as a bit of a sidenote, someone on 2ch mentioned that airiko's voice sounds quite like Uehara Azumi of GIZA with her lazy sort of voice, which I was blown away that I didn't notice it before... anyone agrees?)

モーニング娘。 cover - シャボン玉 (DetroitSucksMix)

.:. Shabondama (DetroitSucksMix)
.:. Shabondama (DetroitSucksMix) -karaoke-
4.4MB / 4m34s / 128kbps (both)
.:. Full sized jacket image
Essentially a rock cover, the lyrics was actually done with lots of Detroit underground rock references, in case you are lost figuring out what's going on. Nevertheless, the ass kicking guitar will probably render you speechless anyway (if the words haven't done so). WindsorBALLET himself is a drummer of his band, but he only used drum samples for this track. This is almost the best cover song I have ever heard, no kid.

Sougen no Hito (piano lead mix) / Roman ~MDB~ (MIDImix)
松浦亜弥 - 草原の人 (piano lead mix) / モーニング娘。 - 浪漫〜MY DEAR BOY〜 (MIDImix)
remixed by AEUGNewtype - Piano Ballad
.:. Sougen no Hito (piano lead mix)
.:. Roman ~MDB~ (MIDImix)
7.2MB / 5m10s / 192kbps
.:. Full sized jacket image 300dpi JPEG / 72dpi preview
(quoting AEUG as 1st-person here)
"Ok, this is my 3rd release of mixes, of Aya's Sougen no Hito, with a piano solo taking over for her vocals. I used the original karaoke from her single release as the background, with a few slight modifications to the overall sound. The mix was an idea I had a long time ago, as some may remember, I posted a VERY preliminary version of this mix at some point last year. This is a completely re-vamped version, with real piano solo taking over instead of the midi mixing that I had originally used. Part of this piano solo is taken from the Sougen no Hito Musical CD for the live stage musical from a few years ago. I made many modifications to this track, as well as adding parts of my own from composition.
It was concluded by myself and a few others that the original sougen no hito sung by Aya was a bit grating, by the un-polished style of her vocals back at the time of recording, and a bit of poor vocal arrangement by someone, with the last note of the song she sings making me cringe. So the basic idea of the mix was to create a smoother, more relaxing sound to the song, and more natural, as the original musical arrangement and songwriting is fantastic, but someone slipped somewhere along the way of making it a sweet as it could be.
The c/w is a MIDI mix, like my previous ones, but I think this one turned out a bit better than most of them so far."

Strawberry Pie / Jankenpyon MIDImix
ミニモニ。 - ストロベリ〜パイ / ジャンケンぴょん MIDImix
remixed by AEUGNewtype - MIDI
.:. Strawberry Pie MIDImix
.:. Jankenpyon MIDImix
3.0MB / 3m06s / 128kbps
3.1MB / 3m07s / 128kbps
.:. Full sized jacket image (150dpi)
AEUGNewtype decided it is a good idea to screw with the MIDIs he has made, to see if anything good will turn out;,and here we go is this new attempt - with use of original vocal mixed with the MIDI background of the song, Strawberry Pie and Jankenpyon respectively. Being true to its tune, the MIDI was pretty much brought straight off the sequencer unprocessed. The vocals of Jankenpyon sounds a bit terribly off-key, which is probably how it is to begin with, in the original... (check the acapella you will know).
Once again I (Chancha) made the cover art, this time a serious word play is done - pie = π - I guess that isn't too chessy is it :)

Fellow AEUGNewtype has his debut mix! Having done all those MIDIs on our site you wouldn't think he could pull a rock mix, would you? As a first try this Lucky Cha Cha Cha Rock attempt has been fairly successful I would say. The guitar lead in particular has been very fitting to the vocals. The drums on the other hand may sound a bit awkward but in fact AEUG has been working hard to improve the track.
I pulled the cover for it too, not too shabby is it? AEUG will continue to work on more rock mixes and he can only get better!

Kacchoiize Japan (Meant To Be Mix)
美勇伝 - カッチョイイゼ! JAPAN (Meant To Be Mix)
remixed by surasshu - Techno
.:. Kacchoiize Japan (Meant To Be Mix)
6.8MB / 4m10s / 225kbps(VBR)
.:. Full sized jacket image 300dpi PDF / GIF preview
A twosteppy, dreamy techno appraoch from surasshu.
The song originally sounds very harsh, especially during the odoru-ish chantings of the "Kaccho ii ze! Kaccho ii ze!" part. Couple with that, the samples of choice are mostly of a hardedge as well, but the treatment he put forth went rather smoothly with the vocals though. The overall pace of the song is moved up quite a lot by the use of layered beats, as opposed to the more melodic ones in the original, so the flow of the triphop-ish background really stands out contrastingly. Also the bassline is maintained by another hard sample which normally sounds pretty bad (imo) but surasshu managed to turn water into wine :)

surasshu loves Melon Kinenbi - Akai Freesia ~Strongbad Mix~
メロン記念日 - 赤いフリージア ~Strongbad Mix~
remixed by surasshu - Hip hop
.:. Akai Freesia ~Strongbad Mix~
6.2MB / 4m24s / 192kbps
.:. Full sized jacket image, designed by Taru PQ
Another interesting attempt by surasshu. Every time he always tries out new technique, this one is not going to be an exception - a hip hop approach, spiced up with scratching he did himself (with use of digital turntable). I almost thought it was a red herring to have Strongbad as a mix name until during the interlude that he finally jumps out... personally I really wish we could get more of his voice throughout the mix. But then maybe it is surasshu's intent that the mix is to remain mellow, like it isn't speeded up or anything, to incline more to the "Melon taste". Overall a good listening tune not to be overwhelming the song itself.

surasshu comes to show us he IS better than us (as if he hadn't). Being an oldschool geek he actually has the ability to do 8-bit music... and here it is, a mix of Berryz's Fighting pose single with nothing but NES samples. The awesomeness doesn't end there though. If you pay attention, you can tell the different lines for the girls in the original songs are presented as samples with different pulsewidth in this mix, to resemble the vocal effect. Which is COOL.AS.HOTSHIIZZLEE.
These are only the mp3s, I will add the .IT (XMPlay) and the .EXE later, if that is needed (check the mm-bbs thread they are there).

MiniMoniMegaMix
ミニモニメガミックス
remixed by surasshu - Hyper Euro
.:. MiniMoniMegaMix
22.4MB / 16m11s / 192kbps
.:. Printable jacket page
So much effort... so much time. Finally, surasshu's huge release - the MiniMoniMegaMix, a Eurobeat medley featuring 6 classic songs of MiniMoni's, in memorial of Mini Moni's inevitable departure...
01. Genki jirushi oomori SONG
02. Lucky Cha Cha Cha
03. Strawberry Pie
04. Jankenpyon
05. Okashi Tsukutte Okkasui~!
06. Rock'n'Roll Kenchoushozaichi
All the tracks have a heavy essence of Para Para Paradise's fast J-Euro, my personal favourite part is during Rock'n Roll (last track) the spaceship and fireworks are just absolutely ass kicking.
To celebrate such a "pro" piece of fan dedication, how can I not push it up even higher? So then I took the chance to tailor these huge printable cover arts to go with the mixes, they are at 300dpi so do whatever you want with therm. Check the cover page for details.

Shiawase Desu Ka (Lofi Mix)

remixed by surasshu - Triphop
.:. Shiawase Desu Ka (Lofi Mix)
6.1MB / 4m24s / 192kbps
.:. Full sized jacket image
Triphop or Lounge, I really don't know... nonetheless, surasshu's newest work seems to incline on being 'easy-listening' than the more popular 'entertaining'. As to why it is called lofi, the secret is that the vocal was too crappy, surasshu needed to cover it up some way ;) (shh) With quite a bit of a contrast to SWL's pop-ish approach, this mix begs for a rather calmer listening experience instead of a 'cool' one. Once again surasshu showcases his amazing keyboarding skillz through this amazing piece :)
(Lame cover art done by me again... that was a cheap shot lazy work...)

A heavy House-beat based track, coupled with surasshu's pimp ass keyboard, is this awesome remix. I like it how it sounds a bit Rave-ish while it still manages to preserve the Jazz House essence. The mix is a bit on the long side, but it never really drags, kudos surasshu. As a reminder, you will need to tune up your subwoofer if you wanna fully enjoy this.

SHALL WE LOVE Eurobeat
ごまっとう - SHALL WE LOVE? Eurobeat
remixed by surasshu - Eurobeat
.:. SHALL WE LOVE Eurobeat
7.9MB / 5m32s / 192kbps
.:. Full sized jacket images:
Super Eurobeat ver / GOLD ver / Psychedelic ver
surasshu's attempt at the mighty Eurobeat genre. I actually find it sounding more like trance than Euro... but hell it is great that's all that matters. As he himself puts it, he 'used Initial D Millennium Box as example material basically', so indeed it does sound like it is from there. The amazing leads really drive the whole mix along. Also, just because the vocal wasn't speeded up for the extra 'euro' touch (which more people dig), the mix itself doesn't sound overly saturated.
Oh by the way, I (Chancha) made those jackets for it :) Three different versions cuz I couldn't settle on which... The Super Eurobeat ver is in heavy reference to, well, the billion Super Eurobeat CDs with that same damn design (doesn't mean it is a bad thing heh).

Quoting Crapplejunktown from his post:
"Well, basically I had this song in my head at work one day and was kind of mixing it in my head. I thought to myself, "Ya know, this could easily be made into a dark sounding song". The mix is a throw off the original mix but with a completely different spin, as you can probably tell. Lots of dark, gothic sounds. Personally, my favorite part of this mix was the ending. I think it fit really nicely together.
This was also my first real attempt with Reason, which is a really great program. Basically, all the music was done in Reason (I used a midi of the song as my basis), and then brought into ACID Pro 5.0 (which I just upgraded to!)."
Indeed a very moody mix.. so to echo the dark theme, I (Chancha) made the CD cover speaks as close to the atmosphere as possible.

CrappleJunktown's first try on mixing! Very theme centric - the mix name comes from the flow of the leading track itself that "it starts off calmly and build up, but calmly ends". The mix may not carry much melody to begin with, but IMHO, a good remix is almost always the one that can "inject" a brand new listening experience into it, and this mix does just that. Keep up the great work CrappleJunktown!

Shabondama (Kuno's Remix)
モーニング娘。 - シャボン玉 (Kuno's Remix)
remixed by Kuno - Hip hop / Nikoichi
.:. Shabondama (Kuno's Remix)
7.2MB / 4m09s / 238kbps(VBR)
.:. Full sized jacket image 300dpi JPEG / GIF preview
Yet another nikoichi mix from Kuno! History repeats itself a lot, and it just so happens that MoMusu and Namie meets together again. So yes, the backing track is also an Amuro song "butterfly", a B-side from her single ALL FOR YOU.
An almost industrial funk beat coupled with dreamy pseudo saxs' that drags the whole mix along. I particularly dig the chokes on repeat, which Kuno already experimented in his Roman mix and proved successful. The original Shabondama really pisses me off that the MM vocals are so screechy, lousy high pitch with little harmony; this mix solved that problem because the music overshadows the vocal by a long shot. Overall this is more of a junction attempt of fitting the vocal track onto the backing music than a style exploration, which I think is a well done job. The flow of the mix really helps a lot to make this enjoyable, even the bass line, or the subtle backup vocals also go along with the MM track in a magical way.
Cover art from sexy Chancha again :) Wannabe street style look with seemingly clever visual approach. Butterfly and bubbles play well together, no? Big ass jpeg for great measure. Enjoy.

Roman ~MY DEAR BOY~ Kuno's Remix
モーニング娘。 ft HALCALI - 浪漫〜MY DEAR BOY〜 (Kuno's Remix)

.:. Roman ~MY DEAR BOY~ Kuno's Remix
6.5MB / 4m20s / 206kbps(VBR)
.:. Full sized jacket image 300dpi PDF / GIF preview
First being posted over at the public morning musume tracker, immediately being realized even on the 2ch thread was this interesting mix. Perhaps the 1st few seconds in it already gives away who did this mix - DJ Kuno - the guy who seems to really make these Hip hop things work.
It probably qualifies as more of a "nikoichi" (2in1) mix because the lead music track of the mix is the instrumental of Namie Amuro's "Strobe", finished off with spiced up vocal samples of the Roman acapella being thrown around. The end result is quite amazingly well done, not to mention it feels wicked hearing Mikitty chokes :) Namie's songs always have that hip hop touch nowadays, that sound works kind of well with the Roman vocal somehow. Oh, not intending to spoil, but Halcali wil jumps out of nowhere some way down the mix :) Contrasting the rock approach of the original arrangement, this mix definitely gives a whole new listening dimension for the song.
By the way, Hiroshi (西野ヒロシ) over at M.O.T.A just had his latest Osaka Bakuon (大阪爆音娘。) appearance, and this time he featured Kuno's mix in his part during the night of the event. It really is an honor that overseas fan stuff gets acknowledged in one way or the other :)
As usual, I (Chancha) pimped a cover art for this as well :) I looked at the Halcali logo thing on their singles and came up with something as close as I could get... I worked this in Illustrator so the PDF is a 300dpi printable.
