A sepia-ish look on the original photograph really encouraged a similar treatment.
Aside from regular touch-ups, the first thing I did was to bursh out the sides of Maki so the shadows look whole and real, since there were a bit of meaningless text all over the place on the magazine page. After that were the, posterization part. The resolution of the pic didn't quite cut it so I had to artistic-fy her a bit there.
To finish off the old-ish theme, I toned down the color way low so it looks indeed sepia. Originally, I was placing her right in the middle of the screen, considering how the composition is, but I realized how many similar walls I already have so I shifted it a bit, threw some simple typography on the side to further juice up the mood of it all.
