Subtle as hell colors from the source pic, nice mix of curvy outlines and textures. Really mellow.
The colors were as well pretty dull because of that. Hmm, I wanted a color scheme to go with this, even just with great subtlety. Maki's pants has that dominant forest green; her top has a wavy textural aquatic cyan; the skin of hers is almost a golden yellow... altogether only lacks the dullish grape red.
I used a tone of that red as the primary BG color, and did a series of color ranges to take the whole picture's saturation to as tonal as possible (ie. pale like fuck). That which is done by adding the complimentary color of each of the 4 (holy shit I know my color- theory!!11one)
Ahmmmm, so yeah. Composition-wise, the tiled ornaments on the left is just a way to cover up the otherwise half-ass crop job. Damn thing is shifted from the center indicating a seemingly thoughtful layout. Inevitable five-ten typography sits right in your face though very damn invisible, finishing the thing off needlessly yet nicely.

The non-center placement has been bugging the hell out of me as I stared at the wall with expectation of some form of symmetry. So I decided to throw Maki right back at the median line.
