She was standing inside a glassed elevator kind of thing, then the little stuff at the back of the photo was brushed out, making her like, disappearing into the blacks.
In the photo, the flash light off of the camera had a glare near Miki's face, so I threw off a couple thick strokes of whites over the top right corner to outline the light source.
After that, to play around the idea of positive and negative (black and white), I gave the pic an almost de-saturation (a little blue was added if that matters), then proceeded to add texture layers that distort the light-dark relationship. And then there also was the grainy layer that gave the thing a bit of textural depth.
I am recently addicted to Didot. Shamelessly so, the font is whored out again this time. Big ass tilted placement as if I couldn't think of anything better to do, typography-wise. (not saying that wasn't the case...)
