The cheri remixWhen I started this, I was trying to decide on which pic to use for the wallpaper. I knew I wanted to go miki, but couldn't pick out one particular photo from the book. So I was like what the hell, just throw them all in.
It would have been easy if the photos that I picked had a diversity in their compositions. The cheri book is okay at that, but not by much. I needed a theme across these pictures that I could easily distribute them with (in terms of the layout), and it was quite obvious that... it was miki's face. The photographer knew miki's most astonishing quality is her facial outlook, so the shots this guy took all had a variety of angles towards her face. 10/0 Profile, 3/7, down-top etc... So the theme was now set.
The next thing was to position these photos in ways that they won't look boring. The ones without the whole body would go towards the screen edge looking blurry, the full frontal ones can stand in the middle of the canvas looking smaller, but with higher contrast. I deliberately picked those pics of her standing still, so the resulting image would look like it was in real life perspective, with various people actually standing there in a space.
I used a lot of blending modes as an inevitablity, because it wouldn't make sense to waste time extracting every damn photo, and that I used lots. So I gave the whole canvas an airbrushing kind of gradient tone as a coat over. Further accompanying the mood was to throw in all sorts of starry, glowy graphic elements that give this thing a whole lot of fantasy atmosphere.
The finishing touches were the white graphics that are again majorly floral, like most my other ones in this style. That look going with the serif font choices were giving a fashion sort of feel, and I think it compliments well with the dynamics of the photos there within.
At the end I decided to not crop this like I did my other wallpapers, because I started in the 1920x1200 widescreen, and I couldn't think of ways to crop it right, so I just gave them letter box for the other resolutions.
