orange purple - 07
Chokkan 2 is one of those singles with dope ass cover art, but have largely shitty songs inside. Now those outfits the girls got on there are totally awesome, but Reina's particularly kicked major ass with that orangeness going on there.
We all know that purple is Reina's thing; it would be of great compliment to add that against the already yellow/orange photo. The vast contrast between those 2 colors enables a fairly busy graphic style to go with it.
An exclusion (in the blending-mode sense) of that purple was coated over her pic and the yellow orange gradient that I added at the back of her. I needed a tile to solidify the texture so I used that little one as a grid. The original photo was a bit more orange than what you see now, because I wanted to sway more towards the creamy lemon yellow that would give more focus on the other darker orange graphics on top later on in.
Inspired by the starry shaped accessories Reina is wearing, many graphics of the same vein were thrown in, with various different treatments and effects to outline the flow and business of the layout. Particularly, the "Coca Cola" ribbon and the radially gradient'd "balls" with their color burn transparencies give such a juicy mood, coupled with those random bubbles really make this look more like an ad for some certain juice. Or drink, errrrrr.
Nigga what the fuck is juice? I want some grape drink baby! (bonus point for those who know where this shit's from)
Hmm yeah. Since there is such a juice reference here, the 2 theme colors are dubbed as grapes and oranges, appropriately. I played around with the color overlays on the final output and came up with 2 pairs of variants - one which is of a hue on top of a threshold, another is of a color dodging with those 2 respective colors.
