unorthodox weapon
Basically if you put together the styles of the last 3 wallpapers I did, you get this one - a mix of torn textural elements and straight edged shapes.
This time I went the route of throwing all the pics in the same photo set (again), because I obviously couldn't decide just one to make a wall out of. Now this set has such a vivid color scheme, wherein the location is all graffiti and rusted metal, such a series can work very well inside a torn edge white backdrop, which I particularly am good at :)
The difficulty was to place the photos interestingly. It took me a while, but I managed to have the varying poses go like an arc around the centre of the screen, creating a flow in the overall composition. Normally, like I did with "the cheri remix", I would have left these photos a blurred edge; however, in an attempt to illustrate the torn mood, I used clipping paths straight out of the background settings to create a crisper contrast along the photo seams.
Torn textural theme goes well with the military; I think I got inspired by the visual look on gunkanjima - a historic ruin in Japan. So I put up a textural photo with a shit load of black lines radially shooting out of the bottom right spot, to establish a motional focus. The huge ass text "Shojo R" was to fill the void left opened by the arc of photos around it.
I felt a need to horizontally split the screen in half to give it some sense of proportion, so I gave a large gradient bar along the top of the R letter. On the far right I did like a main box and a satellite small box above it to maintain a sort of rigidness on the right side. Together with the way I did the white torn edges, you can picture the motion goes from establishment on the right, to chaos on the left... a far cry to the theme you can say.
The war theme was then finished by the otherwise hilarious text. Jailbait indeed...
Oh, I think I am going to do this regularly now; I added a de-saturated variant. The last konno one proved this to be a good idea, making these all the less obscure on a work computer.... yeah.
