Shinku
The major aim of the design was to coat over an excessively saturated color "shinku" - or in other words "crimson" - to maintain a rich and luxurious look; the "hana" look.
The original photograph already has a pretty sweet composition, coupled with the fact that the scan was of such excellent quality, I barely had to apply much retouching or deconstructive texture to it. Since the color scheme is quite warm, even with that golden glow the whole pic still looks quite unnatural, so I had to mask over a ripple layer of cyan to somehow add a complementry accent.
The typography is of course, just a rip off of the photobook logo. In order for it to blend in the photo nicely, I pulled a pretty typical Photoshop layered text treatment with varies blending modes & layer effects to manipulate a sense of depth.
